Cinnamon sugar tortilla chips get smoked alongside a warm apple topping, then piled together with caramel and whipped cream for a fun, shareable dessert. This is the kind of recipe that turns a fall gathering into something people talk about. Simple ingredients, big payoff.
Servings: 6
Smoker Temp: 350°F
Smoke Time: about 30 to 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 8 flour tortillas, cut into wedges
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
- 4 apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granola or chopped pecans
- Caramel sauce, for drizzling
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the chips. Brush tortilla wedges with melted butter. Mix sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon and toss the wedges to coat evenly.
- Prep the apples. Toss the diced apples with brown sugar, remaining 1 tsp cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Smoke. Preheat your smoker to 350°F. Spread the tortilla wedges on one tray and the apple mixture on another. Smoke both together, stirring the apples occasionally, until the chips are golden and the apples are soft.
- Assemble. Arrange the smoked cinnamon chips on a platter. Spoon the warm smoked apples over top, then sprinkle with granola or pecans.
- Finish and serve. Drizzle with caramel sauce and add whipped cream if using. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes: If your smoker runs on the smaller side, the chips and apples can be smoked in separate batches rather than at the same time.
